Not long after Shah Jahan build the beautiful Taj Mahal, he was imprisoned by his son in the Jasmin Tower of Agra Fort for nine years till death. Jahan could only see his epic architectural work from across the Juma River, through the window of Jasmin Tower. I have painted my own fantasies of this story, with the stars in the night sky and the portrait of Shah Jahan’s wife to express theShah’s state of despair.
