The artist was a physician by trade, he worked in the rural village of Lujhu Township in Southern Taiwan for 16 years. Having seen how diligently the humble farmers worked in the fields, the experience greatly influenced the artist's many paintings depicting the Taiwanese rural villages. This painting showed the coexistence of the sun and the moon, suggesting the artist's busy schedule as a physician at the township's health center.
